“Arthur the Bull is as great as they come – he’s determined, energetic and he’s even quite handsome,’’ says Macarthur FC general manager of operations Natalie Matich.

Speaking after the name of our A-League club’s brand new mascot was revealed last night, Ms Matich said Arthur was “born in the Macarthur region’’.

“He always puts his team first like our community. With this name, we cannot wait to see his personality develop even more.

“Arthur is ready to continue meeting fans at Macarthur Square, at home games and out in the community.

“When you see Arthur the Bull be sure to give him a big hello.’’

Following a naming competition by members, fans and locals that attracted more than 500 entries, the club revealed the winner at Macarthur FC experience store at Macarthur Square.

Narellan girl, Liana Martins, 8, earned a special place in the club’s history by submitting the winning entry, which suggested the bull be called Arthur.

Liana and her 11 year old brother Cooper met Arthur the Bull at last night’s function and joined in welcoming him to the team, pictured above.

Arthur the Bull will make his debut at the Macarthur FC v Perth Glory home game next Wednesday, January 26.

Fans have welcomed the name on social media, although there’s been some banter whether the club mascot might end up being called “Artie’’.

Either way, sources close to Arthur tell us this potential on field favourite is eager to step onto the pitch at Campbelltown Sports Stadium and hear the fans ringing their cowbells and chanting his name.

Join in the celebrations and purchase tickets for the whole family via Ticketek or pop by the Macarthur FC Experience Store on level 3 of Macarthur Square and immerse yourself in all things Bulls, complete with a synthetic turf mini stadium.
