Lower speed limit on the way

A push by concerned residents to reduce speed limits in two rural roads at Leppington has paid dividends.

Next week the speed limit along Ingleburn Road and Heath Road will change from 80 kmh to 70 kmh.

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said a speed zone review was carried out in response to community concerns about speeding along the two semi rural roads.

“Following the review, Transport for NSW will introduce a 70 km/h zone along Ingleburn Road and Heath Road, Leppington in both directions between Eastwood Road and Camden Valley Way,” Mr Sidgreaves has announced this week.

“The new speed limit is expected to bring significant road safety benefits to the residents and road users due to the increased development in the area.

“Motorists are reminded to drive to sign posted speed limits at all times for the safety of all road users,’’ he said.

The changes to the speed limit will come into effect when new speed limit signs are installed from next Friday, July 17 – weather permitting.

Interested residents can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
