Transport for NSW will install longer turning lanes on Cowpasture Road in the latest move to fast-track traffic improvements at the intersection with Fifteenth Avenue.

The work will enhance traffic flow along Cowpasture Road as well as benefit traffic turning into Fifteenth Avenue and Hoxton Park Road.

The NSW Government is prioritising improvements to Fifteenth Avenue, with work to be completed by 2026.

Central to this work is recently announced plans to install an additional northbound lane on Cowpasture Road towards the M7 Motorway.

The additional lane will improve flows for both through traffic along Fifteenth Avenue, and traffic accessing the M7 Motorway heading north from Cowpasture Road.

Preliminary investigations have commenced and will continue to the end of February 2025.

Expediting this work is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to reduce local congestion and improve journeys for the growing communities in this area.

These improvements are being undertaken at the same time as longer-term planning   to prepare for the growth in the area when the Western Sydney Airport opens in 2026.

Drivers accessing the M7 Motorway by heading north along Cowpasture Road from Fifteenth avenue currently experience congestion and challenging lane changes.

“Just last month we announced the plan for an additional northbound lane on Cowpasture Road, now we can reveal further upgrades with the delivery of longer turning lanes,’’ says Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty.

“I’ve been working closely with the Minister for Roads to ensure we’re doing everything possible to deliver rapid improvements to the local road network, while future planning along this corridor continues.”
