From board chair of St Patrick’s College for Girls to director of the Campbelltown Catholic Club board, Mary Ellen Bland has done it all when it comes to community service.
The former primary school teacher has been named 2023 Campbelltown local woman of the year, an annual award bestowed by the local state member of parliament.
Ms Bland has been involved with many community organisations over the years, but some of these include the St John the Evangelist Parish, Campbelltown, the Catholic Development Fund Advisory Council and the Good News Support Program for ex-students of Mater Dei School Camden and adults with special needs.
Others are the Brother Clarence Foundation, the Pastoral Care Council for her local parish and board member of Mercy Works Ltd.
The Bradbury resident is also a graduate of the Institute of company directors.
Mr Warren and last year’s winner, Annette Lamb, presented Ms Bland with her award this week (pictured above).
“Mary Ellen has been an incredibly active member of the Campbelltown community for many, many years,’’ Mr Warren said.
“She is loved, adored and respected for all her impressive achievements.
“The Campbelltown woman of the year award is an accolade that acknowledges women in our community who have gone above and beyond. Mary Ellen has certainly done that.
“Mary Ellen now joins an incredible list of locals to be named Campbelltown woman of the year such as Geraldine Dean, Dawn Kershaw, Kylie Seymour, Margaret Shafer, Monique Keogh, Michelle Mays and Annette Lamb.
“Congratulations Mary Ellen and thank you for your incredible service and dedication to the Campbelltown community,” Mr Warren said.
