Campbelltown Lions Christmas cakes going for a song at Bunnings

Look out for members of Campbelltown Lions Club if you head out to Bunnings on Blaxland Road between now and Christmas.

They will be there between Tuesday and Friday selling their delicious Christmas cakes and puddings, so go up and say hello.

And buy a Christmas cake, too, because if you have had them before you know how good they are.

The 1.5kg Christmas cake is just $19, while the 1kg one is going for $15.

The Christmas puddings, which weigh 900 grams, are selling for $15.

The friendly Lions people on duty at Bunnings will have EFTPOS facilities available.

It’s also good to know that Lions make sure all proceeds from the sale off their Christmas cakes go back into the community.

The Rotary Club of Ingleburn meanwhile is accepting gifts from the community for local children up to the age of 17 who may not get a present for Christmas.

Last year Rotary Club of Ingleburn donated 423 presents through its Gifts of Hope program via local schools and charities.

They have set a goal of 500 this year, so help them get there by donating a gift by November 29.

Gifts up to $20 in value are being accepted.

If you’d like to contribute a gift, contact the club at drewipercival@gmail.com or by phoning 0416 111 881. Arrangements can be made to deliver gifts to Rotary, or for the club to pick up.

Staying with the festive theme, Wollondilly mayor Matt Gould has launched an appeal to help support residents doing it tough down south of Macarthur.

The Mayor’s Giving Tree Christmas Appeal is seeking unwrapped gifts for children between 0-12 years old or non-perishable food items at one of the designated delivery points (see below).

“This has been a difficult year for many Wollondilly residents due to unprecedented storm events, personal tragedy, and financial stress,” the mayor said.

“The spirit of Christmas is about kindness, family, generosity and sharing and as we know, the Wollondilly community does this so well.”

Donations can be made at the council administration building in Picton, the Warragamba Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre, Community Links Wollondilly at Tahmoor, the Dilly Wanderer or the Mobile Library. The appeal is unable to accept used, second-hand or wrapped gifts.

The 2022 Garage Sale Trail will be held over two weekends, November 12-13 and November 19-20.

The Camden campaign helps residents clear their homes while also taking action for the environment by saving items from landfill and maximising the value of energy and resources that goes into making new items.

Residents can host garage sales at their homes or online this year.

  1. This is the second year that Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils have joined forces to host and support the Garage Sale Trail in the Macarthur Region.

It is not too late to register to host a garage sale this weekend or plan your “trail” accross the region on a mega shopping spree.
