The mission of Lifeline Macarthur-Western Sydney is: “every life matters’’. Current Lifeline chief executive officer Veronica Macdonald says she is dedicated to honouring it.

“My team and I are committed to making a difference and meaningful impact on those who need us the most,’’ says Ms Macdonald.

“To care, to listen without judgement, and practice compassion and respect for those facing harsh challenges.’’

The task for Lifeline is immense, and here’s some of the reasons why:

  • Every day, Australia loses nine lives to suicide;
  • Every month, Lifeline receives more than 5,300 calls to its national service;
  • Every 28 seconds, a call is made to its 13 11 14 crisis call line;
  • 75 percent of lives lost are men – sons, fathers, brothers, uncles, mates.

To make a difference, Lifeline needs the support of the community, especially for its major fundraiser, the annual gala ball.

Titled Unveil Hope Masquerade Gala, it will be held at Liverpool Catholic Club on Saturday, June 21 from 6.30pm.

“This gala is not just a celebration; it’s an opportunity for our community to come together and shape a kinder, stronger Australia – to ensure that Lifeline can continue to help those facing their darkest moments, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,’’ says Ms Macdonald.

“We want to ensure that every call is answered – that support is available, and that we can build a country free of suicide.’’
