Critics say that it won’t be anywhere near enough for every commuter but the State Government is pressing ahead with planning for a 1,000 space car park at Leppington railway station.

Construction of the new car park is planned to start around mid-2020 and finish mid-2021.

During construction some existing car spaces will be unavailable in order to complete the work safely and alternative temporary parking will be available to offset these spaces.

State Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves wants those locals who will use it to have their say on the concept design.

“We understand the community is eager to see the new car park built at Leppington Station and now is their chance to provide feedback on the concept plan,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

“The new multi-storey car park will deliver up to 1000 additional car spaces, which is 650 more than initially committed,’’ he said.

Leppington Station was opened in 2015 as part of the South West Rail Link. Through this project, the NSW Government also built more than 800 car spaces at this location. Once the new car park is opened next year there will be up to 1800 spaces available to customers.

A pop up information stall will be hosted by Transport for NSW at Leppington Station between 4.30pm and 6:30pm next Thursday, March 12 and also on Tuesday, March 17 to enable the community to give feedback and ask questions.

“Feedback received will be considered as part of the development of the Review of Environmental Factors, which is the formal planning document for this project,’’ Mr Sidgreaves said.

“We will notify the community when it will be available to view online.”
