The work of wildlife carers and researchers working to protect koalas across the Macarthur region will be on display at Koalatown Discovery Day.

The free community event will also feature a series of fun and educational activities for children, and expert presentations.

All Campbelltown residents are invited along to celebrate Australia’s favourite marsupial at Koalatown Discovery Day on Sunday, March 29, from 10am to 2pm at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

“Koalatown Discovery Day will showcase the incredible work of researchers, carers and wildlife organisations from across the Macarthur region in a fun and family-friendly environment,” says Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound.

“Campbelltown is home to a precious and unique local koala population and it’s incredibly important that people understand how fortunate we are to have them here on our doorstep,” Cr Lound said.

“So come along with the family for a fun day out while learning all about what makes koalas so special from the passionate volunteers and experts who work closely with them in the field, and how you can do your bit to help our local colony thrive,” he said.

Stallholders and presenters will include:

  • Campbelltown City Council Bushcare Team
  • WIRES
  • Sydney Wildlife
  • Campbelltown City Council Waste Recovery Team
  • Campbelltown City Council Natural Areas Team
  • Wollondilly Shire Council
