A $39 million upgrade of Devonshire Road is set to unlock long overdue road connections between Leppington, Austral, Kemps Creek and Western Sydney International Airport

Today, the Minns Labor Government has committed $39 million to plan the upgrade of Devonshire Road and the Devonshire Link Road.

Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty welcomed the funding green light as essential infrastructure for South Western Sydney.

He says the project will support the thousands of families moving into the area and improving access to new job opportunities in the Aerotropolis and beyond.

“These roads aren’t just lines on a map – they’re the future links between our suburbs and one of the country’s biggest economic precincts,’’ Mr Hagarty said.

When we talk about creating jobs closer to where people live, this is how we do it. Devonshire Road will be a vital connection between the Leppington electorate and the industries, freight corridors and services emerging around the airport.”

The $39 million planning package builds on the $1 billion Fifteenth Avenue upgrade, a jointly funded project with the Albanese Government, and forms part of the state government’s $2.7 billion total investment in road infrastructure for the Aerotropolis over the past four years.

Mr Hagarty said the project would help ease pressure on already congested local roads like Bringelly Road and Camden Valley Way, while laying the foundation for further upgrades across South Western Sydney.

“After a decade of inaction under the previous government, we’re finally delivering the infrastructure our community needs; not just to catch up, but to get ahead,” he said.

“By upgrading Devonshire Road and its connecting link, the NSW Government is ensuring that South Western Sydney has the roads it needs to grow, connecting homes to jobs, easing traffic pressure, and future proofing one of the fastest growing regions in the state.’’
