The federal member for Werriwa, Anne Stanley, did the honours when two local schools unveiled new facilities recently.

Malek Fahd Islamic School, Hoxton Park has installed solar panels, while Al-Faisal College at Liverpool opened a new library and general learning building.

Ms Stanley said the Malek Fahd Islamic School project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $117,443 through the capital grants program.

“A lot of work has gone into this project which has delivered solar panels and battery storage which will assist with managing energy costs,” Ms Stanley said.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in Malek Fahd Islamic School, Hoxton Park, get the best possible education.”

Ms Stanley, pictured above, said the project would benefit the students currently at Malek Fahd Islamic School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at Malek Fahd Islamic School have built a strong and positive school community and this project will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Ms Stanley said.

Two days earlier, Ms Stanley opened the new library and general learning building at Al-Faisal College.

Ms Stanley said work on the development project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $600,000 through the Capital Grants Program.

“This project has delivered a new primary school library and resources area which includes a dual level library facility, library office, information technology support area, new general learning areas and landscaping,” Ms Stanley said.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at Al-Faisal College with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.’’
