Campbelltown residents kicked off the school holidays on Saturday at an exciting new outdoor facility: Ingleburn Reserve mountain bike trail loop.

The 770 metre trail was built in response to suggestions from the local community.

It includes a series of jumps, rollovers, rock gardens and berms suitable for beginner and intermediate riders.

Following the official opening, Mayor George Greiss, pictured with some of the riders below, said the trail would be a great addition to the popular riverside reserve.

“Ingleburn Reserve is one of Campbelltown’s best bushland reserves and a popular location for families on weekends so it’s great to see the facilities here enhanced by this exciting new mountain bike trail,” Cr Greiss said.

“The trail is designed to be family friendly and will suit a variety of skills and abilities,” he said.

The $90,000 project is the first part of a $1.5 million project to upgrade the riverside reserve’s facilities, trails, vegetation and accessibility in response to community feedback to consultation held in 2020.

The planned project includes new picnic facilities including seating, tables and barbecues, as well as improvements to the path network to enhance accessibility to people with prams or wheelchairs.

Council will also be hosting two training sessions over the holiday period for young people who want to improve their mountain bike riding skill on Wednesday, September 28 and Monday, October 3. Booking details on Council’s website.
