Funding green light for local infrastructure projects

Labor MP Anne Stanley says a project in her South Western Sydney seat of Werriwa has received extra funding in the wake of the review into the national infrastructure investment program

The M5 Motorway – Moorebank Avenue – Hume Highway intersection upgrade has received an extra allocation of $37.5 million.

This brings total Australian Government funding for this important infrastructure project to $190 million.

Once complete it will provide a more efficient link from the new intermodal terminal at Moorebank (pictured above) to the Hume Highway and the M5.

Ms Stanley said funding has also been confirmed for the Bernera Road upgrade at Yarrawa Street, Prestons ($2.6 million), Bringelly Road upgrade ($407 million) and the Heathcote Road upgrade, Hammondville to Voyager Point ($94 million.

The Kurrajong Road intersection upgrade at Beech Road and Lyn Parade, Prestons ($4 million, has also been green lighted, along with the Middleton Drive extension – M7 underpass ($6 million).

“I am pleased that Infrastructure Minister Catherine King and the Albanese government have recognised the importance of these projects and our region,’’ Ms Stanley said.

“These projects matter to our community and shows our government can be trusted to deliver where there is the greatest need.”

Ms King said the Albanese Government was committed to delivering infrastructure that builds Australia and improves lives.

“To do this, we need an infrastructure program that is fit for purpose, fiscally responsible and above all, deliverable,’’ she said.

“We are delivering infrastructure that creates jobs and helps wages grow, and makes our communities better connected and more livable.”

  1. The image displays the delineation of the Moorebank Intermodal.
The upper small rectangle of development is Moorebank Precinct East we title as MPE/Corrigan – 83 hectares. Chris Corrigan is the founder of Qube Holdings and he took hold of development rights of MPE in the early 2000s. His name aligns with Trade Union Wrecker, from the 1998 Melbourne Wharves dispute. Labor hate him.
The larger lower image component is Moorebank Precinct West which we label as MPW/Albanese – 220 hectares. Albanese/Labor took on MPW to block Corrigan’s interests in Moorebank from 2007 in the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Labor Government.
The consequence of corrupted planning processes is a multi billion fraud on the Australian Taxpayer. A project that cannot but fail its investors, and one that is disastrous for our local area in terms of dangerous traffic, worsening dirty air and 24 hour metal on metal noise.
Who in the 21st century would even consider dumping such a development within a few hundred metres of established housing, on the banks of a beautiful river and into a congested narrow river bound traffic system located at the circumference of its distribution area.
