Construction is now under way on the new Hurley Park community space. The $4.1 million project is part of a multipurpose communities facilities hub project.
While historic Hurley Park, which is located a short distance from the Campbelltown town centre,is bookended by Hurley Street and Dumaresq Street, the facility is adjacent to the latter.
Completion of the work will deliver a modern, accessible and flexible facility to accommodate a wide variety of community use.
The multipurpose community facilities hub project will create a central space that can support a range of community-led programs, services and activities, including initiatives that assist with family and domestic violence, food security, homelessness, mental health, social connection and cultural inclusion, as well as programs for young people, older adults and other priority groups.
The new community hall will offer users larger, adaptable multipurpose space accommodating up to 200 people, flexible community spaces, including meeting and office areas, commercial kitchen and laundry facilities and improved outdoor areas.
“As Campbelltown continues to grow, new facilities like this help ensure our residents have access to high-quality spaces that support inclusion, connection and community wellbeing,” said Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound.
“The new building at Hurley Park will meet these needs of our growing and diverse community and will provide residents will a welcoming venue to host activities, events, programs and services for people of all ages,” he said.
The project, which is being funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, was welcomed by local State MP Greg Warren
“This new facility will continue to support our growing community to connect and engage with each other through a range of functions, activities and events,’’ said the member for Campbelltown.
‘I am proud to be working alongside Campbelltown City Council to deliver projects like this one which will benefit our community in a range of different ways.’’
Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-2027.
