Monique Keogh has a volunteering record as long as your arm.
It includes Campbelltown Uniting Church Soccer Club as treasurer and team manager, Campbelltown Community Preschool (treasurer and fundraising committee), St Patrick’s College for Girls Campbelltown (alumni president and Parents and Friends vice president); and St Thomas More Netball Club (coaching coordinator and secretary).
But the icing on the cake is that Monique Keogh helped establish Campbelltown Thunder Netball Club, which has grown into one of the local area’s most competitive clubs.
In recognition of such a tremendous community service record, local MP Greg Warren has selected Monique Keogh as 2020 Campbelltown local woman of the year.
The award is given out in every electorate in NSW as part of annual International Women’s Day celebrations.
Mr Warren said Ms Keogh had given so much to the Campbelltown community it was an honour to present her with the award.
“Monique has dedicated herself to so many causes to make the lives of those in Campbelltown so much better,” Mr Warren said.
“Her passion and selflessness is infectious.
“There are so many women in our local area like Monique, who make incredible contributions to our community.
“It was a pleasure to present Monique with this award which is well and truly deserved.”
Ms Keogh said she was “blown away’’ when she received the news about the award.
“Actually I was speechless – which doesn’t happen very often,’’ she said.
“While I’m extremely grateful for being recognised to receive this wonderful accolade, I do feel there may have been other worthy recipients who I’d also like to acknowledge for their outstanding and dedicated work.”
