As Year 12 students begin their final preparations for the HSC, Western Sydney University is again providing free online study sessions to assist with their exam preparation.
From Monday, September 28, to Friday, October 7, Western Sydney University will be offering 22 free sessions across 14 key HSC subject areas and providing students with the opportunity to sit a practice exam and deconstruction, with feedback and advice from experts.
Led by a team of highly qualified senior teachers, students will take part in sessions including content analysis, tips and strategies, and a detailed exploration of key syllabus and curriculum areas.
Riya Varghese, a St Patrick’s College for Girls, Campbelltown graduate, took part in Western’s HSC Study Sessions in 2025 to help prepare for her final Year 12 exams. Now, she is currently studying a Bachelor of Business at WSU.
Riya said the sessions made her feel more prepared and confident and gave her a better understanding of what to expect in her HSC exams.
“The most valuable part was the exam-focused guidance, as the teachers were able to break down difficult concepts and explain how to approach questions effectively, as well as provide practical exam strategies,” said Riya.
“The online delivery also made the sessions accessible and convenient, allowing me to easily take notes, ask questions through the online Q&A and access additional resources.”
This year, students can also join a Q&A Session and a UNI101: Introduction to University session delivered by Western’s future student engagement team to find out about university life at WSU, dream careers and degrees, alternative pathways, scholarship opportunities, support services, and more.
Director of domestic student recruitment at WSU Kellie Burke said the HSC Study Sessions are one way the university is supporting the educational success of young people across the region.
“For the past 16 years, this program has helped equip Year 12 students with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to approach their exams. We know the months ahead can feel both exciting and overwhelming and we want students to know that they don’t have to navigate this period alone,” Mrs Burke said.
