Michelle Mays, the manager of the WILMA women’s health centre, has been a passionate advocate for women in Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region for many years.

Ms Mays and the team at WILMA have helped countless women through a range of services offered at the centre.

Today, on International Women’s Day 2021, local MP Greg Warren has named Ms Mays as the 2021 Campbelltown electorate woman of the year.

The Member for Campbelltown said Ms Mays was a very deserving winner of this year’s accolade.

“We are truly lucky to have a centre like WILMA, led by Michelle, in our local community,” Mr Warren said.

“The centre offers a range of services and assists women during extremely traumatic times.

“Managing the centre is an extremely important job but not an easy one, yet it is a role Michelle has excelled in for a long, long time.

“This award is way of saying thank you to Michelle for her dedication and passion over the course of many years.”

Ms Mays said the award was recognition for the hard work of the entire team at WILMA.

“It’s a surprise and I feel very honoured,” she said.

“But it’s not just for me, it’s for the centre and it’s for our community.

“I don’t just think it represents myself, it represents us as a service.”

Ms Mays said the award was an important accolade for women in the Campbelltown community and beyond.

“It’s really important women are acknowledged for their contribution and the multitude of things that they do,” Ms Mays said.
