A pedestrian struck by a car last night in a hit-and-run incident has died. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help them find the driver of the vehicle.

Emergency services were called to Village Circuit, Gregory Hills, following reports of a crash about 10:15pm.

On arrival, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command found a 67-year-old man who had been hit by a car, and that allegedly failed to stop.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he later died. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

In a separate incident, a local police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged domestic violence offences.

In June 2025, officers attached to Western Region command commenced an investigation into reports of alleged offences involving an off-duty police officer between January 2024 and April 2025.

Police were told the man allegedly assaulted a woman on a cruise ship in Sydney Harbour in January 2024.

Officers were further told in June 2024 he allegedly refused to leave an address in Catherine Fields when asked by the same woman.

Following inquiries, the 50-year-old man – a senior constable attached to the South West Metropolitan Region – was served a Court Attendance Notice this week for common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate (domestic), trespassing, and peep or pry.

He is due to appear at Mudgee Local Court on October 15.

Police will allege in court that between September 2024 and April 2025 the man also approached or contacted the woman several times in the Central West area.

The officer is currently not in the workplace and his employment is under review.
