Two first term councillors have taken the reins at Camden Council. At last night’s (Tuesday) meeting, the council elected Cr Vince Ferreri as mayor. It also backed in Councillor Eliza Rahman as Deputy Mayor of Camden.
Mayor Ferreri said it was a privilege to be elected Mayor of Camden.
“I’m a passionate Camden local who loves my neighbourhood, loves my community and loves being part of such a wonderful place,” he said after the vote.
“I’ve been serving on Camden Council for two years, having been first elected in October 2024.
“The people of this community matter to me and I’m committed to achieving the very best for each and every one of them.
“One important space for me is in the advocacy space. Camden is one of the fastest growing local government areas in the country, with 100 new residents moving in each week.
“It’s an exciting time to be in this unique position and I’m committed to working in partnership with other levels of government to ensure infrastructure keeps pace with our growth.
“Our community deserves the very best and it’s my job to ensure we continue to deliver the best outcomes possible.’’
Mayor Ferreri congratulated Cr Rahman on her successful election as Deputy Mayor.
“I look forward to working alongside you, as well as our fellow councillors, council’s CEO Andrew Carfield, the executive team; and all council staff, to create lasting and positive change for our area,” he said.
Deputy Mayor Eliza Rahman said it was exciting to be able to serve in the role.
“I can’t wait to continue to serve this wonderful community in my new position,’’ she said.
“I look forward to all the things we can achieve together,” she said.
