Work to extend Gregory Hills school zone starts next Monday

Road users are advised of an extended school zone near Gregory Hills Public School from next Monday (January 6, 2025.

The school zone on Wallarah and Long Reef Circuits, Gregory Hills will be extended by about 120 metres in total.

The work will involve:

•         relocating the existing school zone signs and road markings on Wallarah Circuit about 70 metres south to a new location in front of 13 Wallarah Circuit;

•         installing new school zone signs and road markings in front of 3b Long Reef Circuit about 50 metres north of Wallarah Circuit.

Work will be completed between Monday 6 January and Friday 24 January 2025, weather permitting.

Road work crews will be on site for up to two day shifts to carry out the sign changes and one night shift to complete the new road markings.

Their scheduled day work hours will be between7am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

Scheduled night work hours will be between 8pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday.

The extended 40km/h school zone will come into effect from Term 1 in 2025 and will operate between 8am and 9.30am, and between 2.30pm and 4pm on normal school days. 

There will be temporary traffic changes to make sure the work zone is safe.

Lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place for the safety of our workers and motorists.

Traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists and pedestrians.
