A big Christmas is on the way to Campbelltown from December 1. The centrepiece will be a giant 10-metre tall Christmas tree in front of the Campbelltown Council building in Queen Street.

That’s nowhere near as tall as the one in Martin Place, pictured above, but it will certainly stand out in the main street of the town.

Mayor George Greiss, who is keen to put on a big Christmas for residents this year, will turn on the lights on the tree on Friday, December 1.

Santa will be Rocking Around Campbelltown, there will be Christmas carols and much more this festive season, the first one since “normality’’ has finally returned.

Festive celebrations will spread across Campbelltown CBD and surrounds throughout December.

It will all start with Light the Tree at Campbelltown Civic Centre, from 6pm to 9pm, which will also include kids’ activities and Santa photos.

“Last year we received wonderful community support for our Christmas events, drawing thousands of locals into festive celebrations across our LGA,” says Cr Greiss.

“This year we’ve committed to creating our biggest Christmas celebration yet, including brand new community events and the return of some old favourites,” he said.

Rocking Around Campbelltown will travel to three local parks this year – Glenfield Park, Cook Reserve and Rizal Park – on Saturday, December 2, between 10.30am to 4.30pm, where visitors can enjoy a Santa meet and greet, festive activities and delicious food trucks.

The convoy will make its final stop at Campbelltown Christmas Carols, from 5pm to 9pm, featuring a night of stage entertainment, Christmas themed activities, and family fun at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium.

Celebrations will continue in Campbelltown CBD throughout December, with themed decorations along Queen Street and Christmas on Q Fridays, December 8 to 22, where visitors can enjoy weekly dessert truck pop-ups and family activities at the Forum Q LED bauble installation.

Handmade and Homegrown Markets on Q will offer a festive flavour on Sunday, December 17, from 9am to 2pm, with live Christmas carols from Campbelltown Camden District Band, handmade craft and food stalls and kids’ activities.

Christmas busking performances have also been planned for each Monday and Wednesday in December as part of Live and Local Lunches on Q.
