A 25 year old man has been charged with high range drink driving and speeding almost 60km/h above the limit on the Hume Motorway along Campbelltown on Friday night.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on Campbelltown Road, Woodbine when they spotted a sedan allegedly being driven dangerously just before 10pm.
Police activated their lights and sirens and stopped the driver on the Hume Motorway at Ingleburn a short time later.
The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Eagle Vale Police Station, where he was subject to a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.198 – almost four times the legal limit.
The man was charged with driving with high-range PCA and with exceeding the speed by more than 45km/h.
He is due to face Campbelltown Local Court on September 17 where police say they will allege the man was driving at 166km/h in a sign-posted 110km/h zone.
They will also allege the car he was driving had bald tyres, and that he was tail-gating and had his headlights on high beam.
