The third annual Macarthur Retired and Former Police Association charity golf day hit the spot.

Held once again at Lakeside Golf Club, the goal in 2025 was to raise enough money to buy a KanMED baby bed warmer system hot cot used in the special care nursery of Campbelltown Hospital.

The association says last Thursday’s golf day raised more than $18,000 for the hot cot.

It is reported that around one in five babies are admitted to neonatal intensive care or special care nursery due to prematurity, respiratory, sepsis or infections. The hot cot is a controlled warmed cot environment that allows the baby to be swaddled and nested.

The inaugural event in 2023 raised $23.500 for defibrillators for police vehicles at Liverpool and Narellan/Camden, while in 2024 $15.500 was raised for urgently needed equipment at Menangle Rural Fire Service.

This year 56 players took part in the Ambrose golf competition, including former and current police officers, as well as local businesses.

Golf was followed by lunch and the presentations in the main dining room of Lakeside Golf Course.

Gerald Kenneally, one of the day’s sponsors, presented trophies to the winning team, Paul Albury, Thomas Dobb, Dan Schiavello and Paul Richardson of Camden Police.

Last but not least, it was announced that the fourth charity day was already locked in for 2026, on Thursday, May 28, at Lakeside golf course.
