The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is going to be huge. With 32 teams and 64 matches, the first ever World Cup in the southern hemisphere is tipped to be one of the best ever.

Millions will watch it around the world as our own Matildas, led by arguably the world best female player Sam Kerr, seek to create history by winning one of the most prestigious trophies in world sport.

But the tournament is also going to come close to our neck of the woods, which means opportunities for some locals to get close to the action or behind the scenes.

How? Easy, through becoming a volunteer at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

But if you are interested you will need to get a move on because nominations close this coming Friday, February 17.

Campbelltown and Macarthur residents residents wanting to get up close and be part of the action during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 can now volunteer to be part of the team at Campbelltown Sports Stadium and welcome the South Korean women’s national football team to the city.

The South Korean team will use the stadium as a training venue during and before the tournament starts.

Registrations are open now for either a Team Base Camp Volunteer position or Team Base Camp Team Services volunteer position.

“We’re very excited to welcome the South Korean team to our city in preparation for their World Cup campaign,” Mayor George Greiss said.

“This is a great opportunity for passionate locals to experience the World Cup first-hand and meet the players from one of Asia’s strongest teams right here in Campbelltown,” Cr Greiss said.

Registrations for volunteers close on Friday 17 February

Anyone interested in applying can use the Campbelltown Sports Stadium venue code TRSCSS.
