A South West Sydney female police officer has been charged after allegedly providing misleading information about other police personnel.

She is due to appear before Picton Local Court on June 19.

The 25 year old’s employment status is also under review.

In September last year officers attached to the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Potsdam to investigate reports of alleged false complaints made by a police officer against colleagues on domestic violence grounds.

On November 29 a search warrant was conducted at the officer’s home, where police seized a number of electronic devices which were forensically examined.

Following further investigations, last Thursday (April 24) police issued the woman, who is a serving NSW police officer attached to the South West Metropolitan Region, a Court Attendance Notice charged with knowingly provide false/misleading information regarding police conduct.

In a separate incident, a man has been charged following a midnight pursuit in outer South West Sydney.

About 12.20am today (Monday, April 28), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a grey sedan on the Camden Valley Way, Leppington, after it was allegedly detected exceeding the speed limit.

When the driver failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated before the sedan allegedly reached speeds of up to 190km/h.

A short time later, the vehicle left the road and crashed near the intersection of Camden Valley Way and Cowpasture Road, Leppington.

Police arrested the driver, a 23-year-old man, and passenger, a 17-year-old male.

They were both assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and did not require any treatment.

Following inquiries, the 17-year-old was released without any charges.

The driver was subjected to roadside drug and breath tests which returned negative results.

He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, failing to stop during a police pursuit and negligent driving.

He has been granted strict conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on May 15.
