Feedback pays off for local businesses

In a win-win outcome, Transport for NSW has listened to community feedback and designed some important improvements as it plans for an upgrade along Elizabeth Drive.

Businesses and residents around Kemps Creek sought additional measures to facilitate access in and out of businesses in the area to improve safety and access.

As such, traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Clifton Avenue to allow a safe right turn on to Elizabeth Drive.

Further, a proposed rear laneway behind the Kemps Creek businesses will be two-way, instead of one-way only, to provide extra access options for businesses and customers.

Transport for NSW will also add a temporary roundabout at Salisbury Avenue for access to and from the laneway.

While these measures will enhance safety, especially for motorists entering and exiting Elizabeth Drive, Transport for NSW will also build an extra car park near Bill Anderson Reserve to improve parking availability in the area, particularly on busy community sporting days.

Transport for NSW will further refine designs to incorporate these changes with updates expected on the project website in early 2026.

Additionally, with investigation work complete, Transport for NSW is planning for the construction of the right turn bay on Elizabeth Drive and Western Road at Kemps Creek.

The work will take around three months and expected to begin early February.

“A real win for people power, and I thank the local businesses and Kemps Creek Soccer Club for their strong advocacy, with community input driving design refinements that will facilitate better access to businesses and services at Kemps Creek,’’ says the local member, Nathan Hagarty (Member for Leppington), pictured above.

“The feedback will also help us examine ways of further reducing congestion around this area, whether that be through better rear lane access or extra parking near Bill Anderson Reserve.

“These are changes that balance much-needed upgrades with community safety and supporting local small business and will deliver material benefits for shop owners and the local community.”

Work on upgrading Elizabeth Drive is expected to begin in mid-2026.

The Elizabeth Drive upgrade is an $800 million initiative jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments and will deliver important improvements including two-lane dual carriageway from the M7-M12 interchange through to Badgerys Creek.
