Two big events are coming back to Campbelltown to help locals celebrate food and entertainment.

First up will be Feast on Saturday, September 16, from 2pm to 9pm at Redfern Park in Minto.

The second will be the return of the popular Sundown Sessions program at the Campbelltown Arts Centre from November.

But we will be off to Feast first when this celebration of multicultural food and dance will transform Redfern Park into a hub of sights, sounds and tastes from all over the world.

Residents will see the return of family favorites including traditional food stalls, live performances, and cooking demonstrations as well as kid’s activities.

“Campbelltown has a diverse and multicultural community,” says Mayor George Greiss.

“Feast gives our residents an opportunity to celebrate these cultures by exploring the customs and delicious foods of our multicultural community,” he said.

Stage performances will take place throughout the event, giving attendees a glimpse into cultural dance and instruments.

Instrumental demonstrations of didgeridoo and drumming as well as live performances from dance groups from a multitude of cultures will be part of the entertainment at Redfern Park.

Sana Brazil Entertainment will provide what is expected to be an exciting finale to the program.

Due to the previous year’s positive response to the kid’s activity trail, the hours for this activity will be extended from 2pm to 6:30pm.

Kids will have the opportunity to take part in six different stations which will contain a variety of activities such as movement workshops, Aboriginal craft, flower folding and VR headsets.

There will also be additional kid-friendly activities including henna tattoos and an inflatable obstacle course.

Sundown Sessions will bring an exciting range of night-time exhibition tours, creative activations, live music and family focussed workshops and activities to the Campbelltown Arts Centre from November 2023 to January 2024.

Features of the program will include art after dark trail, artist talks, exhibition tours, public art trail, art workshops and live music and other performance art.

Sundown Sessions will be held on Thursdays, and selected Friday and Saturday evenings.

Campbelltown Arts Centre was recently successful in receiving $200,000 from the NSW Government’s Culture Up Late program to run the after-dark program.

Working with local businesses and artists, Sundown Sessions will feature an engaging and diverse series of events and activities and help to rejuvenate Campbelltown’s night-time economy.
