Stuck at home with nothing to do? Of course you are, along with the rest of us.

Here’s an idea: learn about your family history.

Camden Libraries, Camden Area Family History Service and Camden Historical Society offer an extensive range of resources to help you in your search for your family tree.

These services assist anyone who wants to learn more about Camden’s past and their own family history in Camden and other parts of the world.

The information available in the library includes photographs, military service records, and a vertical file collection.

Both Camden Area Family History and Camden Historical Society also hold valuable records and research material.

Camden Libraries also have pioneer registers, cemetery records and access to old newspapers which may act as an additional source to learning about your family’s history.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, says that the records that Camden Libraries can access are very important and hold a lot of value, as they capture a lot of Camden’s history.

“Understanding your family’s history is important and is certainly something that I value deeply,” Cr Fedeli said.

“There are a range of links provided by Camden Libraries, to online databases that are focussed on individual family records.

“If your family has been in the Camden area for generations, I encourage you to utilise our facilities and take the time to learn more about your past, as well as general history about our area.”

Due to the current Covid-19 lockdown, library members can gain access to Ancestry.com through the library website.
