
A man extradited from Queensland was due to face court today charged with murder following the death of a man near Campbelltown two years ago.
As part of ongoing inquiries, Strike Force detectives travelled to Queensland on Wednesday (March 19), and with the assistance of Queensland Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Rockhampton.
On the following day (Thursday, March 20,) the man appeared at Rockhampton Magistrates Court, where detectives applied for, and were granted, his extradition to NSW.
He was escorted to Sydney and taken to Mascot Police Station where the outstanding warrant was executed, and he was charged with murder.
Just before 2pm on Monday, March 14, 2022, police went to a unit on Middleton Road, Leumeah after concerns were raised for the occupant.
The officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command allegedly found the body of a 49-year-old man inside, suffering multiple stab wounds.
Detectives subsequently commenced an investigation under Strike Force Carbethon.
The man charged with murder was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday, March 21).
