Macarthur FC head coach Ante Milicic has continued to build his inaugural playing squad and his latest recruit is Campbelltown local Jake McGing.
The tall defender returns to the Macarthur region after stints at Brisbane Roar, Central Coast Mariners and with Polish top tier side Wisla Plock.
Macarthur product McGing, played his junior football with local club Eschol Park Wolves before representing Macarthur Rams from Under 10s through to U12s.
Amassing 90 A-League matches since his debut for the Mariners in 2015, the 26-year old will feel right at home when the Bulls charge onto Campbelltown Stadium in the upcoming A-League season, having learnt his trade just five minutes away at Eschol Park Sports Complex.
The Raby local was excited at the prospect of representing his hometown in the national competition.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,’’ he said.
“To represent Campbelltown, the area I love and have grown up in is a great honour, but to be part of building an A-League club in my hometown from the very beginning is massive,” McGing said.
“I have some great memories playing my junior football in the area and I’m excited to put on the Macarthur colours.
“I’m looking forward to playing at Campbelltown Stadium in front of my family and friends and making them proud,” McGing added.
Milicic said McGing joining the Bulls will provide many young local players something to aspire to in the future.
“When building a team from scratch you want to bring players to the club that will all bring different qualities to the team.
“No doubt Jake is a quality player on the field, but what he can bring off the pitch is just as important for us. Being a local, he can inspire the next generation playing in the Campbelltown area,” Milicic said.
The Bulls will make their debut when the 2020-21 A-League season kicks off on December 27.
The FFA is due to release the season draw early in November.
