We’ve never had it so good – yeah, right, Mr Elliott

Liverpool City Labor councillor Nathan Hagarty has hit for six NSW minister David Elliott’s declaration in parliament that Western Sydney have never had it so good.

“The minister for Western Sydney must be delusional if he thinks that the current situation in Liverpool is anywhere near good enough,” Cr Hagarty said.

“From pothole ridden streets of Austral, overcrowded schools in Prestons, to the stretched emergency department at Liverpool Hospital, local residents have had a gutful of being taken for granted by this tired and out of touch government.”

Cr Hagarty, pictured above, called on the NSW Government to deliver a better deal for our local area.

“The cost of living crisis is biting, yet the government has increased tolls on South Western Sydney residents four times in the past year and now they want to impose a forever land tax,” he said.

“We don’t want increased taxes on local people. What we want is action on improving local roads, schools and hospitals.

“We need Fifteenth Avenue upgraded, new schools in Austral and Edmondson Park and the crisis is our health system fixed.

“Families are waiting hours in emergency waiting rooms to receive care from an increasingly burnt-out workforce.

“Stop fighting with local nurses and health workers, and start fixing this mess.”

Cr Hagarty has called on Minister Elliott to visit the local area to see the issues first-hand.

“He needs to come out to our neck of the woods to see what 11 years of neglect does to local communities. It’s just not good enough,’’ he said.

“If the minister and his government can’t get on with the job of governing, they should get out of the way and let someone else have a go at fixing our state.”
