The Federal Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander, will host a prostate cancer forum next week.

Local men who attend the forum will hear from prostate cancer experts and people with lived experience.

As a local paediatrician for more than three decades, Dr Freelander says he cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of residents and is hosting this event to help increase awareness of prostate cancer and how to prevent and treat it.

“This event is for all Macarthur men, not just those directly affected by prostate cancer, as I believe it is important that we all come together to benefit from this discussion,’’ says Dr Freelander.

“This is an opportunity to meet with key stakeholders, experts and community representatives to learn more about prostate cancer and how we can prevent and treat it too.

“I encourage everyone to come along, and I also ask that you please share this event with anyone who may also wish to attend.’’

The event, which is free to attend and will have morning tea catered for, is being held in co-operation between Dr Freelander, Prostate Cancer Australia and Bayer Australia as part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September.

It will be held in the Campbelltown Catholic Club’s Quondong Room from 10am till 12pm, on Thursday, September 26.

There will be leading medical professionals, including nurses from Prostate Cancer Australia and a local urologist amongst others attending to provide meaningful and important information to Macarthur men.

Representatives from Macarthur Bulls FC will be attending the event.

To attend, please RSVP to Dr Freelander’s office either via email, mike.freelander.mp@aph.gov.au, or via phone, 4620 0293.
