Campbelltown Council’s budget for the next financial year includes a $66 million capital works program.

Council plans to spend $35.1m on roads and bridges, $15.7 million on parks, open spaces and playgrounds, as well as $1.4m on drainage and flood mitigation.

“Our comprehensive capital works program includes major projects such as the Farrow Road multideck car park at Campbelltown Station ($15 million), LGA-wide road reconstruction ($15.9 million) and more than $1 million to renew our existing footpath network and construct new paths,” says the Mayor, George Greiss.

Other highlights of the draft Delivery Program 2022-26 and Operational Plan 2023-24 include:

  • Design of WestInvest-funded projects such as Kanbuyugal Parklands Mountain Bike Park, Simmos Beach Parklands, Glenfield Town Centre Beautification and Public Art project and Campbelltown Sport and Health Centre of Excellence at Campbelltown Stadium.
  • A diverse program of community and cultural events such as the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost and Chill Fest Winter Festival, FEAST Campbelltown and Ingleburn Alive.
  • Delivery of Ingleburn Reserve stage 2 upgrades (pictured above) and planning for Nepean River Reserve and Smiths Creek Reserve upgrades.

The delivery program and operational plan outlines the projects, works programs, social programs and other activities that Council will achieve over the coming year as part of a $266 million budget.

“This year’s budget sets ambitious goals for the future while also supporting the revitalisation and ongoing growth of our community,” says Mayor Greiss.

“Over the next year, we will be working hard to deliver city-shaping and regional capital projects that will benefit the long-term social and economic fabric of our city,” Cr Greiss said.

“While there is a significant capital program in our city, we will continue to deliver the important everyday services that our community relies on alongside upgrades to existing infrastructure like parks and reserves, playgrounds and sporting fields to support the revitalisation of our public spaces,” he said.

The Delivery Program 2022-26 and Operational Plan 2023-24 are on public exhibition until the end of today, Wednesday, May 17 at overtoyou.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au
