Camden Council wants to play a part in improving the lives and children in the local government area.

Which is why it is currently seeking community feedback on a council plan which aims to support, understand and address the needs of children and families in the local community.

The draft Children and Families Strategy 2023-27 is now on public exhibition.

The strategy identifies opportunities to improve the lives of children and families in the Camden area under the direction of five key priorities: safety, education, information, health and wellbeing, recreation and leisure.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney is calling on the community to have a look at the council plan and make a submission.

“We understand childhood development and happy families are linked to the community, environment and infrastructure which surrounds us,” said Cr Cagney, herself the mother of young children.

“This strategy aims to better understand the needs of children, identify any shortfalls in existing services and explore solutions to address them.

“More than a third of the households in the Camden area contain children aged 0-15 and so getting this strategy right is really important to us.

“I encourage everyone to check out the draft strategy and share their thoughts.”

The children and families strategy is on public exhibition until November 14.
