Campbelltown Council has announced that it has closed a number of facilities to the public, including gyms, pools and libraries, following health advice from federal and state authorities in response to the impact of COVID-19.
Residents are being assured that council’s essential services such as planning, waste collection, cleaning of public spaces and toilets and park maintenance will continue as usual throughout the COVID-19 health situation.
Council’s leisure facilities, libraries, the Campbelltown Visitor Information Centre, Bicycle Education Centre and the Campbelltown Arts Centre gallery and theatre (pictured above) have been closed from noon today for an indefinite period.
Council’s customer service areas at the Campbelltown Civic Centre and Animal Care Facility will be closed to the public unless by prior appointment.
Services are operating as normal and residents are encouraged to call or access services online.
No more bookings will be taken for community facilities and halls and all existing bookings have been cancelled.
Child care facilities remain open in accordance with federal and state health advice.
“While the COVID-19 health situation has forced us to make changes to the way we do business for the protection and health of the community, our essential services will continue as normal,” says Mayor George Brticevic said.
“You can still submit planning applications, your waste will still be collected and we will ramp up our parks and garden maintenance so people have places to exercise while ensuring they practice social distancing,” Cr Brticevic said.
“Residents can rest assured we will continue to maintain these services as the health situation progresses,” he said.
