Wollondilly Shire Council has opened expressions of interest from residents to join its Strategic Reference Groups and the Floodplain Risk management committee.
Council says it continues to look for ways to improve how it works and engages with the community.
Following the success of the Strategic Reference Groups in the previous term, council says it has used the feedback from previous members to refine the model.
As a result, there will be fewer groups for the current term of council, but they will meet more frequently.
“Wollondilly Shire Council is committed to engaging with the community on a range of priorities,” says Mayor Matt Gould.
“There are six different Strategic Reference Groups, and we need people with a variety of backgrounds, skills and experience to come together and provide ideas and advice that will help shape the future of our Shire.
“I’d like to thank the dedicated members of our community who have contributed to the previous Strategic Reference Groups and advisory groups, and encourage anyone with enthusiasm and relevant knowledge to take a look at the terms of reference for the new groups.”
Expressions of interest are now open for the six Strategic Reference Groups, which council says will provide meaningful opportunities for community members to engage with it and share their local knowledge, experience and expertise.
The new Strategic Reference Groups are agriculture and rural industries, arts and heritage, people and community, indigenous, place, landscape and environment, and tourism and local jobs.

Expressions of Interest for both the Strategic Reference Groups, and the Floodplain Risk Management Committee, will be open until February 24.
