Pink will reign supreme in nine races at Club Menangle during May. It’s all part of Pacing for Pink 2023, which raises important funds for the McGrath Foundation, whose mission is to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse.

Money raised as part of Pacing for Pink goes towards just that.

Pacing For Pink, an initiative founded in Victoria, will be an Australian-wide campaign for the second consecutive year, with drivers from all states voluntarily donning the pink pants.

“We aim to raise as much money as we did last year, $140,500, which was enough to sponsor and educate a nurse,’’ says Marg Watson, the Pacing for Pink co-ordinator.

“We are delighted to have NSW Harness Racing participating and are thrilled that Club Menangle is also on board again.

“In NSW alone there are around 73 drivers who will wear the pink pants. It is very encouraging that many young drivers have also wanted to participate in the campaign.”

Like in 2022, Club Menangle will hold nine race meetings – and one high tea – throughout May and has committed to donating the following to Pacing for Pink:

  • $200 for each win recorded by a driver in the Pink Pants at Club Menangle;
  • $200 for each female training win recorded at Club Menangle;
  • $200 for each win that is recorded by a horse carrying saddlecloth Number 8 at Club Menangle.

“Following our involvement in 2022, we are again looking forward to another successful Pacing For Pink campaign in 2023,’’ says Club Menangle CEO Bruce Christison.

“Harness racing has an incredible track record of working together for charitable causes, and no doubt we can all make a significant difference in raising funds and awareness throughout May for Pacing for Pink.’’

On Tuesday, May 30, Club Menangle will also host the second edition of Pacing for Pink high tea. Tickets are $60 each, with a portion of each ticket sold going to Pacing for Pink.

The high tea promises to be a fun-filled afternoon to coincide with our Tuesday race meeting, featuring guest speakers, raffles and a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival for all attendees. Race sponsorship packages are also available.

Tickets are now on sale for the Pacing for Pink high tea. Please visit https://www.clubmenangle.com.au/events/pacing-for-pink-high-tea/ for more information.
