Former detective and child safety advocate Kristi McVee will be the keynote speaker at a parents-only session by the Blue Butterfly Institute in collaboration with The Bathhouse.
With more than a decade of frontline experience as a specialist child interviewer and detective, Ms McVee has seen firsthand the devastating impact of child sexual abuse and grooming.
Her mission is clear: to help parents and carers prevent abuse before it happens.
“Child sexual abuse is one in three girls and one in seven boys by the time they reach 18,’’ she says ahead of the event on Wednesday, October 1, at The Bathhouse.
“My ‘why’ is simple, I don’t want any child to ever have to sit across from a detective like me, telling them the worst things that ever happened to them,” she says.
At the event, Kristi McVee (pictured above right) will unpack:
- Grooming red flags every parent needs to know
- The growing risks of online exploitation and sextortion
- Practical scripts for starting difficult conversations with children
- Protective behaviours and safeguards families can implement immediately
This event is part of The Blue Butterfly Institute’s commitment to advocacy, education, and empowerment, creating safer communities and breaking the silence around sexual trauma.
Only 50 tickets are available, making this an exclusive opportunity for parents, carers, and community members to gain life-changing knowledge from one of Australia’s most experienced child safety experts.
Doors will open at 6.30pm for mingling, with the session starting promptly at 7pm at The Bathhouse.
