Charged: 18 year old to face court over Glenfield road incident

An 18 year old man has been charged after a woman and a child were hit by a car in Glenfield last week.

He was arrested on Saturday at Glenfield and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with several offences.

They included dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving.

 The 18-year-old man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on December 17.

Police will allege that the incident took place around 5pm last Tuesday on Old Glenfield Road, Glenfield.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended the scene where a sedan had allegedly left the road and struck a woman and a young girl waiting the cross the road.

The four-year-old girl was thrown into a tree on impact, while the 72-year-old woman was critically injured.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated them at the scene before the woman was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition; the girl was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

In a separate incident, a man has been charged following a fatal crash involving two vehicles on the Hume Motorway at Ingleburn last Wednesday.

The 47 year old was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – speed greater than 45km over limit.

He was refused bail and appeared before Campbelltown Local Court last Thursday, where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on January 8 next year.

According to the police report of the incident, shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday, November 13, emergency services were called to the Hume Motorway at Ingleburn where a utility and truck had collided.

The passenger of the utility, a 37-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he later died.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, was trapped for a short time before he was released and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver, a 36-year-old man, was not injured.
