
Police have charged the 41 year old driver of a Kia that hit a police officer who was on vehicle stop duty near Narellan. on Monday morning.
The charges include dangerous driving, negligent driving and using a mobile phone.
The man was granted bail to appear in Picton Local Court on February 27.Police are currently addressing the media after a NSW Police motorcyclist was struck at Narellan.
Emergency services were called to The Northern Road shortly before 5.30am, after the officer was struck by a Kia Carnival while he was standing beside his motorcycle performing a vehicle stop.
The officer – believed to be aged in his 40s and attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a suspected hip injury before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.
The driver of the SUV, a 41-year-old man, was taken for mandatory testing.
Following the incident, The Northern Road was closed southbound at Narellan just past Fairwater Drive.
Southbound traffic was diverted into Porrende Street, Grahams Hill Road, Camden Valley Way and Narellan Road.
Motorists were being advised to allow extra travel time and exercise caution.
Emergency services and traffic crews attended site, as well as officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU).
