An interactive workshop designed to support community leaders in their response to domestic and family violence hailed these “champions of change’’.

Guest speakers, Matt and Sarah Brown, authors of New Zealand’s bestselling book and activist organisation She Is Not Your Rehab, led the half day trauma-informed, interactive workshop.

The two authors inspired participants to embrace empathy and courage when responding to domestic and family violence in the community.

The workshop was another demonstration of Campbelltown Council’s commitment to the prevention and elimination of domestic and family violence.

The champions of change event was held last Saturday, November 30 in the Campbelltown Civic Hall.

It was delivered in partnership with Campbelltown City Council, NSW Council for Pacific Communities and the South West Multicultural Community Centre.

It was part of the annual 16 Days of Activism campaign to shine a light on domestic violence and how to respond to it.

“Our domestic and family violence strategy outlines a strong commitment to supporting those impacted in our community,” says Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound.

”Champions of change demonstrates that commitment and how we can unite and take action to prevent and eliminate domestic and family violence,” he said.
