Two men arrested over Chamberlain St home invasion

Two men have been arrested and charged and will appear in Campbelltown Court later today over a home invasion on December 28.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, detectives arrested a 21-year-old man in Campbelltown about 7am yesterday.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Appin 30 minutes later.

Both men were taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

The 21-year-old man was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent – armed, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

About 3.40pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, emergency services were called to a home on Chamberlain Street, Campbelltown, following reports of a home invasion.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command arrived and were told two men armed with machetes forced their way into a home before threatening the residents, taking personal items, and fleeing the scene.

Detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command commenced an investigation under Strike Force Pidgeon.

Both of the men arrested have been refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday, April 12).

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a wanted man last seen in South Western Sydney.

Andrew McHugh, aged 52, is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrants for contravening an AVO order and failing to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment.


Officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command have been conducting inquiries into his whereabouts.

Andrew is known to frequent the Campbelltown, Sydney CBD and Bathurst areas.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with a solid build, short brown hair and a tattoo on his neck. He is believed to be using a yellow and black mobility scooter.

Anyone with information into his whereabouts is urged to not to approach him but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
