Children and families in the Camden area are invited to enjoy another local park and playground following the completion of a new play space in Catherine Field.

Located on Sainsbury Road, the new space includes a playground, seating, kickabout space and shelter.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, pictured above at the new facility, said the park would be perfect for the growing community in Catherine Field.

“Camden is home to many families and children, so it’s important council continues to provide new parks as well as improving existing parks,” Cr Fedeli said.

“I look forward to seeing the locals using this new space to play around, relax and, most importantly, make some beautiful memories.

“I encourage residents to use all of the parks and facilities in our area and enjoy what Camden has to offer.”

Camden Council partnered with Greenfields Development Company to deliver the new Catherine Field park under the Oran Park South Planning Agreement.

Council also installed shade sails to a range of local playgrounds, including, Harrington Park Reserve, Manna Gum Reserve, Narellan Vale, Caulfield Reserve, Currans Hill, Bagnall Street Park, Gregory Hills and Starke Street Park, Spring Farm.

Ancona Avenue Park, Spring Farm, Blueberry Park, Elderslie, Curry Reserve, Elderslie, Greenhills Reserve, Narellan, Merino Reserve, Elderslie. Little Reserve, Camden and Pindari Reserve, Camden were also part of the improvement project.

  • In other Camden news, local children have read their way through the school holidays, as part of the annual summer reading challenge.

More than 100 young students took part in this year’s challenge, which encourages students to read for a minimum of 15 minutes per day to help keep their minds active and maintain their reading ability over the long break from school.
