Liverpool City Council has opened a new 78-space car park at Speed Street as part of its strategy to improve access to the CBD.
The new car parking facility at 68 Speed Street is fully accessible, has lighting and provides more capacity for commuters travelling to or via Liverpool.
It is open 24 hours, seven days a week with a restricted two-hour parking limit from 4pm to 10pm.
It can be accessed via entry points on Mill Road and Speed Street, however the exit is via Mill Road only.
The new parking facility is in addition to the 600 parking spaces also available at Woodward Park with 125 new parking spaces created at the site in March of this year.
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the new car park in the southern part of the CBD optimises existing parking infrastructure and supports the demands for more parking in the town centre.
“Council is pleased to announce the opening of another car park for the convenience of people coming to and through our city for work, study or leisure,’’ Cr Waller said.
“The provision of parking is a priority and we are working to ensure our city’s parking infrastructure meets the demands of a growing population and economic development.
“Council continues to lobby for infrastructure funding in line with the demands of our growing community.
“The recent NSW Government announcement that extra parking will be fast-tracked in Edmondson Park, Leppington, Warwick Farm and Casula will be welcome news for our residents.’’
