Second man charged over Campbelltown stabbing murder

A second man has now been charged with murder over the stabbing death of a man in Campbelltown 15 months ago.

Police say that about 3.00pm yesterday (Thursday 29 February 2024), detectives attended a correctional facility on the Mid North Coast and arrested a 25-year-old man.

He has been charged with murder.

The man was refused bail and was scheduled to appear at Kempsey Local Court today, Friday, March 1.

On Thursday, February 15 this year, detectives from Strike Force Taralye arrested a 25-year-old man at Gorokan.

He was charged with murder and remains before the courts.

Police say that just after 9pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022, a 25-year-old man presented to Campbelltown Hospital with a stab wound to his torso.

Despite the efforts of attending medical staff, the man died at the hospital.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the hospital.

Detectives, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Taralye, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Inquiries under Strike Force Taralye continue.
