Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has led the latest attack on the state government over the absence of a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown since 2015.
NSW Labor are demanding immediate action on the issue.
Mr Warren has tabled a notice of motion in the state parliament calling for action.
The multi part notice of motion:
- Recognises Campbelltown residents have been forced to use the Gregory Hills Service NSW Centre following the NSW Government’s decision to close the Campbelltown RMS offices;
- Acknowledges there is no public toilet available to people visiting the Gregory Hills Service NSW Centre;
- Demands the Government immediately resolve this oversight.
Labor opposition customer service spokesperson Yasmin Catley said Campbelltown residents had every right to feel frustrated and angry.
“The decision to close the Campbelltown RMS offices didn’t make sense in 2015 and it still doesn’t make sense in 2022,” she said.
“The population of the Campbelltown area is growing at a rapid rate and services and infrastructure need to match that growth.
“The Minister for Customer Service is well aware of this issue but has done nothing to resolve it,” Ms Catley said.
Mr Warren said the absence of Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown was particularly problematic for those local residents with mobility issues.
“Getting from Campbelltown to the Gregory Hills Service NSW Centre via public transport is no easy feat for those residents who are mobility challenged,” he said.
“When you add it the fact that there is no public toilet, it makes for a really uncomfortable and awkward experience when travelling from Campbelltown to the Service NSW Centre.
“I have spoken to countless elderly residents who have described their disturbing experience of waiting in long lines and being denied access to the toilet.
“This mess was created by the NSW Liberals so they need to clean it up.”
