From 5pm tonight, commuters can finally use the new five-storey multideck carpark at Farrow Road – a stone’s throw from Campbelltown rail station – for free.

It follows the official opening – at 4pm this afternoon – of the carpark by Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound and federal member for Macarthur Dr Mike Freelander.

The $25 million project was fully funded by the Australian Government and delivers 946 car parking spaces, along with secure bicycle parking areas.

The new multideck car park offers 506 spaces while 440 spaces are in the adjacent at-grade car park, previously completed in 2023.

“We’ve campaigned for this for years, and I’m so excited that the gates are now open for the community,’’ Dr Freelander said before cutting the ribbon with Mayor Lound.

“For every person catching the train, that’s one less person on our busy local roads. This new carpark will mean more people will take the train, rather than the car, into the city.

“I am proud to be part of a government that understands the growing demands of our region, and to have secured full funding for this important project.”

Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound also made a brief speech before the ribbon cutting.

“Campbelltown Station is a key transport hub for our growing community and the wider Macarthur region,’’ he said.

“I’m thrilled to be opening this new car park to improve access to public transport and would like to thank the Australian Government for their investment to support local commuters and the broader region.’’

Sustainability features such as electric vehicle charging stations, rooftop solar panels and rainwater tanks have also been included in the build.

There’s even an atrium in the centre of the building.

There are some minor works remaining, including the installation of additional traffic control devices and site rehabilitation, and they are on track to be completed by early 2026.

Secure Parking have been appointed to operate the car park, and parking will be free to commuters with some time restrictions on different levels.
