Work has started on stage one of the $1.3 million improvements to Camden Sports Club.

Camden Council, which is undertaking the work, says stage one will be completed close to the end of this year.

Stage two is scheduled for completion at the end of March next year.

While the first stage of work will require the front entrance off Cawdor Road to be closed, the club will remain open with access available via the back entrance.

Once stage one works are complete, the front entry will reopen to the public.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney said she was looking forward to seeing the improvements made to the popular club.

“This $1.3 million project is an exciting one for Camden Sports Club and for the entire community,’’ Mayor Cagney said.

“The club is such a staple for Camden and is loved by our residents and so many visitors.

“Council would like to express its thanks to the NSW Government for the funding received for this project, as part of the sport infrastructure recovery fund 2022-23.”

Stage one works includes the installation of a lift providing access from the ground floor to the function room and improvements to the front entrance.

Refurbishment of amenities on the east (kitchen) side of the ground floor, an ambulant toilet in the male and female amenities and the function room are also part of the makeover.

Stage two includes the refurbishment of the amenities on the west (gaming room) side of the ground floor.
