Camden has almost 130 play spaces across the local government area, but Mayor Ashleigh Cagney says there’s always room for improvement.

That’s why Cr Cagney, herself the mother of four young children, is keen to encourages residents to have their say into council’s play space strategy.

She says that once completed, the strategy will guide the creation and maintenance of play spaces across the Camden area.

Also, the strategy will ensure the Camden community and visitors have access to high quality and inclusive play experiences that are secure, accessible and suitable for children, families and caregivers for years to come.

“The strategy will focus on council’s 129 play spaces including playgrounds, public exercise equipment and our beloved splash parks,” she said.

“We want to hear what the community wants to see in our play spaces now and in the future as our community grows.

“In order to identify gaps where council can help and provide action, we encourage the input of the community for this strategy to be the most effective.”

Residents can provide input through Your Voice Camden where people can complete an online survey and share pictures and suggestions on an ideas wall.

The online feedback window will be open until Friday, May 31.

Council will also be holding a community workshop for residents to understand how children and families use these spaces.

This will also further council develop a strategic roadmap to guide the planning, development and management of play spaces.

Make your voice heard at the following workshop: Friday, May 17, 9.30 to 10.30am in the Gregory Hills community centre, 66 Kavanagh Street.
