Detective Senior Constable Scott Green has been a member of the Camden police area command criminal investigation team for just one year.

But his leadership of a crime disruption unit has been so effective Scott Green was nominated for – and took out – the 2025 Macarthur Rotary police officer of the year award this week.

He was also named detective of the year.

Soon after arriving at Camden, Det Green was tasked with leading a newly formed disruption team, working alongside another officer.

Their mission was to target mid-level drug distribution and tackle emerging crime trends, from outlaw motorcycle gangs to organised criminal networks.

Under Det Green’s leadership, the disruption team spearheaded several major strike force operations.

They included Strike Force Tension, which resulted in nine arrests for ongoing cocaine supply.

Strike Force Dotteral netted 11 arrests for large commercial methylamphetamine supply, while Strike Force Corky charged three people with drug and firearm offences.

Detective Green also led Strike Force Broadwood, a complex and sensitive investigation into a triple fatality following a mid-air collision over The Oaks in October 2024.

Just a week later he stepped up again, leading the police response to a stabbing homicide of a teenager in Wilton.

That investigation, under Strike Force Polda, resulted in the successful arrest and charge of an offender for murder. This case is now before the courts.

“Scott Green is the embodiment of what it means to be a detective,’’ said the citation for his award nomination.

“He’s not only relentless in the pursuit of justice, but he leads with integrity, calm under pressure, and a deep sense of duty to the community he serves.’’

The awards presentation was held at Wests Leagues Leumeah on Wednesday night, in the presence of two mayors, Darcy Lound (Campbelltown) and Matt Gould (Wollondilly) and other local councillors. Also present was the member for Camden Sally Quinnell.

Seven category winners were named first, before they all went back up on the stage for the big drum roll to reveal the 2025 Macarthur police officer of the year.

The other category winners were Constable Jessica Crea (Probationary Constable – Campbelltown), Constable Jayden Jordan (General Duties – Camden), Sergeant Cesar Pareja (General Duties – Supervisors – Campbelltown), Maria Fabian (Unsworn Officer – Campbelltown), Senior Constable Janelle Morrison (Crime Prevention Unit – Campbelltown), Senior Constable Nathan Paton (Highway Patrol).
