An armed robber abandoned his motorbike and got away on foot after holding up a shop in Campbelltown yesterday afternoon.
Now police are appealing for information to help them find the bandit.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command responded to a call of a robbery at the Hoddle Street convenience store just after 1pm.
They were told a man wearing a motorcycle helmet had entered the store armed with a pistol.
He approached the counter and pointed the firearm at a 62-year-old male employee, while demanding money and cigarettes.
An amount of cash was handed over and the armed man ran from the store and jumped onto a black and white Yamaha road bike, which was parked outside.
The employee gave chase and gained the attention of two bystanders outside the store.
The two men managed to wrestle the armed man from the motor bike.
However after a short struggle the robber managed to escape on foot and was last seen running towards the rear fence of units in Hoddle Street.
A crime scene was established and forensically examined. Detectives are now calling for witnesses, or anyone who may have information that can assist.
